The best wedding venues in the Ottawa Valley & Renfrew County

The Ottawa Valley and Renfrew County are quietly full of beautiful places to get married, from lakeside lodges to working farms to little country churches. After filming across the area, here is an honest look at what makes a venue film beautifully, and a few local favourites.

What makes a venue film well

It is not about being fancy. The venues that film best usually share a few things: good natural light, a bit of outdoor space for portraits, and room for the day to breathe. A barn with big open doors, a lakeside lawn at golden hour, a bright getting-ready room, these all give a film life.

A few local favourites

  • Lakepoint Cottage Resort, Golden Lake. A gorgeous waterfront setting about fifteen minutes from home for me. Water, big skies, and warm evening light make it a dream to film.
  • Farm and barn venues across the Valley. The area has some wonderful family-run farm properties, with open fields, golden light, and a relaxed feel that suits a documentary style beautifully.
  • Country churches and small-town settings. From Wilno to the little chapels dotted around Renfrew County, these carry a real sense of place and history on film.

Getting married somewhere not on this list?

Do not worry. Many of the best weddings I film are at venues I am seeing for the first time. Every place has its own light and its own character. If you tell me your venue, I can usually tell you exactly how I would film it, and what to watch for on your day.
