Wedding video styles explained

When you start looking at wedding films, you will hear a few different words for "style," and they genuinely mean different things. Here is what each one is, so you can find the feel that is right for you.
Cinematic
Cinematic films feel like a short movie: beautiful light, music, slow and intentional shots, and a bit of polish. They are made to move you. The risk with a purely cinematic style is that it can feel a little staged if it leans too hard on set-up shots. The best cinematic films still feel real.
Documentary
A documentary style stays out of the way and captures the day as it actually happened, in order, with real sound. Less directing, more paying attention. The trade-off is that a purely documentary edit can feel long or flat if it is not shaped well.
Traditional
The classic, longer, straight-through recording of the ceremony and speeches, lightly edited. Not stylish, but complete. Many couples like having this alongside a shorter film.
The blend most couples actually want
Here is the honest truth: most couples do not want one extreme or the other. They want a film that looks cinematic and beautiful, but is built from real, unstaged moments and real sound. That blend is exactly what I do. I stay out of the way and let your day happen, then shape it into something that looks and feels like a film, without ever feeling fake.
The best way to know if a style is right for you is to watch a full film. If it makes you feel something, that is your answer.
